* THINKWRITE TEAM
Think Write

Have you ever aspired to see your thoughts in print? Does somebody you know have a talent with words that remains untapped? Fancy sharing your thoughts online as part of our creative team?

2009 sees the exciting launch of a brand new way for you to get involved with our work here at NYMO. From Easter, we've kicked off the 'ThinkWrite' group, headed up by Matt, in conjunction with the Diocesan Communications Officer, Fr Paul Hardy. Members of the ThinkWrite team will get a chance to generate new and innovative content for this website, as well as upcoming editions of our newsletters and video inputs.

The programme will be formally kicking off in September 2009, and is open to all secondary-aged young people from the Diocese. We'll be getting together for 3 training opportunities over the year, where you'll get the chance to meet with press officers and journalists, as well as get feedback on your writing and any ideas for communications that you have.

Each term, the ThinkWrite group will be given a press assignment, with the first term focussing on 'News', term two looking at 'Features', and a very exciting project for term three, working on a special edition of our Diocesan Newspaper, The Vine. As well as this, each month you'll have the opportunity to send in your thoughts on a range of topics from everyday life - the best of which will feature on this site, which attracts over 5,000 visitors each month. Members of the group will get a chance to explore faith, films, music, prayer, sport, tv, politics, and real-life issues, as well as getting the opportunity to attend events and interview key figures about their beliefs and background.

As of May, we have 9 spaces open for ThinkWrite members, so why not email Matt now on matt@nymo.org to apply for a place on the team.

The Small Print:
To be a member of the Think Write team, you must be:

  • aged between 11 and 18
  • from the Diocese of Northampton
  • willing to commit to attending the training days (1 per term) and complete the assignments (1 per term, with the third term variable, depending on exam commitments)
  • able to submit a sample piece of writing of up to 200 words, outlining why you would like to be part of the Think Write team

Remember, you'll be able to use all your experiences on your Record of Achievement, CV or UCAS application form, as well as for awards like Duke of Edinburgh and Youth Achievement Awards
